Despite gray skies we had a beautiful day with calm seas and great visibility out on both of our trips!
On our afternoon trip, we cruised up to the NW and spotted splashes on the horizon! We aimed for the densest spot and sure enough there was a scattered pod of Short-beaked Common dolphin! They were traveling fast to the south. We kept cruising as many more popped up around us. We traveled close to 3-miles and had continuous dolphins surprise us with their presence. Plenty surfed our wake and rode the bow. We were about to turn when we sighted some larger dolphins and were excited to find out we found a pod of ~60 Offshore bottlenose dolphins! It was nursery pod with little juveniles and some calves intermingling! They were pretty active and breached near the bow a few times! We turned in and spotted a couple more pod of dolphins near the coastline.
On our sunset trip, we pushed out to the SW and traveled 30-miles to the 9-mile bank and back! We spotted a few handfuls of Short-beaked Common dolphins here and there, but the seas overall were pretty quiet! We enjoyed just being on the ocean!
We hope to catch up with more wildlife tomorrow! Hope to sea you there!

Vanessa
