Over a THOUSAND dolphins on our afternoon trip today — and a few more on our sunset run. When we head out and find this kind of abundance, it’s nothing short of spectacular.
We counted 500+ short‑beaked common dolphins and 600+ long‑beaked common dolphins on a single trip — two enormous pods doing two totally different things.
First up: the shorties. They looked like they were resting, but wow did they have babies in tow. There were so many tiny, wiggly little wonders in this pod. They’re adorable when they’re learning how to swim. You know how puppies trip over their own feet when they start running too fast? Dolphins do the same thing — except their whole wiggly bodies flail around like little fish out of water.
Then came the long‑beaks — and these dolphins were on a mission. Running, feasting, chasing fish, surfing like they get paid by the wave; high‑energy mayhem.
