Our early Sunday excursion started with the densest fog! Reminiscent of June gloom. But there was a good variety of sea birds out, tons of phalaropes, shear-waters, and even 3 cocos boobys!
With all the bird life, we knew the food was plentiful out at the drop-off, which is where we found a humpback whale!
This gentle giant was circling the area and not traveling to far but kept us guessing where it would pop up next.
As the fog cleared, we observed 2 huge tail-lobs and a full barrel roll, but for the most part the humpback was just planking, resting at the surface making little spouts, clearly is sleep mode. The best way to spend a Sunday morning.
A small pod of ~20 long beaked common dolphins gave us a quick drive by though they seemed to have places to be today.
We are getting back out there to watch the sunset today with plenty of seats available if you wanna join us for the best place to watch the sunset in San Diego.
