It was an awesome day on the water! We enjoyed three great trips with whales sighted all day! During the morning trip, we sighted two humpback whales and 300 Common dolphins. The humpback whale was the same specked whale as the one sighted yesterday! On the second trip, we sighted 1 Gray whale and 30 Common dolphins! Inshore Bottlenose dolphins were sighted near the dock this morning, and outside the jetties on the afternoon trip. During the sunset tour, we set out to the south and found a Gray whale that wasn’t traveling south! It seemed be circling around just outside of the kelp forest! At one point, it was headed north! We zoomed out to the SW and encountered a huge spread-out pod of ~200 Long-beaked Common dolphins! They traveling fast to the north. We found a pair of southbound Gray whales just outside of Mission Beach, in only 40-ft of water! They were very slowly traveling with 7-10 minute dive times. We watched them with gorgeous sunset in the background. A small pod of ~5 Inshore bottlenose dolphins popped up beside as we waiting for the Gray’s.
