We’ve been having a whale of a time here on the Privateer! We enjoyed such flat, calm sea conditions in the morning that it was like a lake out there! We set out to the north and sighted some spouts out in the distance. A minke whale surfaced near some diving birds, and 10+ Blue whales were sighted all around us. We enjoyed watching them take big breaths and go on semi-short dives. We even witnessed a couple of flukes being lifted! There was a smaller whale traveling with a larger whale, potentially a cow/calf pair, but we only saw it once so could not confirm.
We were blessed with great sea conditions and sunny skies this afternoon. We came across a pod of ~100 long-beaked common dolphins on our way out to sea. Then, we were surrounded by so many blue whales! We were able to get close looks at about ~5 blue whales and saw about another ~6 blue whales out in distance, for a total of 10+ blue whales this afternoon. At one point during our trip, there were 2 blue whales crossing our bow at a very close distance and 2 more on the starboard side. We hope these gentle giants stay in town for awhile!

One more trip to go! Will update soon…
