Winter visitors are absolutely our favorite out here! We had a few pods of Pacific White Sided Dolphins throughout our trips today! These dolphins are gorgeous AND gregarious! They’re often found socializing with other species and that’s preciciely what they were up to today! We encountered them mingling with a pod of common dolphin. The ocean was SWELL today in multiple ways! Dolphins love a lively ocean though, those big swells turn the sea into their ultimate play ground!
Our sunset trip was absolutely gorgeous today! We headed southwest and encountered a pod of ~25 Pacific White Sided dolphins, several California Sea Lions and Black-vented sheer waters which were all feeding on the same bait ball. Then, we travelled further out west before going northbound towards La Jolla and encountered a mix pod of ~25 Pacific White Sided dolphins and ~50 Long-beaked Common dolphins. We also saw a large flock of Bonaparte’s gulls as whale. The cherry on top was the most beautiful bright orange and pink sunset. Looking forward to more salty fun this weekend!
