How does a blue whale greet its friends? – with a big “whale-come”!
We found some more blue whale friends this afternoon on the Ohana! We travelled up northwest and encountered a massive and spread out pod of ~200 long-beaked common dolphins! We also saw HUNDREDS of seabirds! Many of the birds were actively diving down and feeding. We saw a mixture of Elegant terns, Western Gulls, and California brown pelicans. We continued our way up north and sighted a spout near the Scripps Canyon about 2 miles offshore! We hung out with two blue whales for several breath cycles. They were going down for about ~8 min sounding dives. One the blue whales popped up super close to our starboard! On our sunset trip, we encountered a pod of ~200 short-beaked common dolphins! They were surfing in our wake and creating massive splashes with their huge jumps and leaps into the air! Then, we spotted a spout and came across 2 blue whales! They were hanging out just on the edge of the Scripps Canyon in about ~400 feet of water. It is always a fun time on the water with us! Please join us for some summer fun with our summer blue whale friends!
