MAN! The ocean never ceases to amaze us day after day! We got some much needed sunshine with our ABUNDANCE of blue whales today!
There’s a good group of whales that have been calling San Diego home for the last few weeks and they aren’t going anywhere! We saw 3-5 whales on each trip today! Some days we get good flukes, some days we see none, today the whales must’ve been diving deep because we got SO MANY good looks at their tails. On our first trip of the day we had scattered pods of dolphins escorting us all the way out to the whale hot spot! The conditions were gorgeous flat and glassy it’s absolutely stunning to see dolphin play at any time but it really gets magical in glassy water when they leap out of the water and a near perfect reflection shows you their bellies.
WE had an enormous feeding frenzy as well, ptrobbably 500 long beaked common dolphins hearing baitfish in a hurry!
