The Pacific down here in San Diego is full of life! We found so many dolphins and feeding frenzies on our tours today! We found all three of our most frequent species of dolphin. On our morning trip we found an amazing pod of offshore bottlenose that numbered about ~75 with some extra cute little ones. They were just beyond the drop off going on deep dives and returning to the surface a few mins later. There was one little dolphin that must have been too small to join the hunt in the depths because every time the adults would dive – this little nugget would go off on a zoomie adventure all on its own around the boat – everybody fell in love.
We spotted multiple pods of long and short beaked dolphins in feeding frenzies throughout the day numbering nearly 1000! That’s a whole lot of dolphin!
We’re excited to see what wildlife will be moving in with this very warm sea water! Temps off the coast were measuring 74 degrees! That’s about 5 degrees higher than average for this time of year. Sometimes this brings in exotic species like Bryde’s or even the ( very rare) possibility of sighting a whale shark.
See ya soon!
