Why did the dolphin bring a microphone to the party? – Because it wanted to make a splash with its porpoise-ful singing!!
We saw so many hundreds and hundreds of dolphins today. Most likely over a 1000 dolphins were sighted throughout the day between the morning and afternoon trips! On our morning trip, we encountered a great pod of ~100 long-beaked common dolphins straight out of the jetties. Then, we encountered an amazing pod of ~75 offshore bottlenose dolphins! They were leaping out of the water and having a blast! We saw a few with interesting cookie-cutter shark bites on their sides. After travelling, along the drop-off we encountered a MASSIVE pod of ~500 short-beaked common dolphins! They were making massive splashes! On our afternoon trip, we encountered a COLOSSAL pod of ~650 short-beaked common dolphins! They came along for a ride with us for several miles! It was so fun to hang out so closely with such a massive pod of WILD dolphins! We also saw two Mola-molas and a few flying fish throughout the day. Please stay tuned for more updates from our sunset trip! The dolphins aren’t goin anywhere! We spent nearly the entire sunset trip spotting dolphin pod after dolphin pod! We had both short beaks and long beaks, almost alternating each time we found a fresh pod. The sunset was gorgeous! Clear skies dappled with some cirrus clouds over land that caught the last fading red rays of light from the sun.
