Shorty so fly, shorty is a ten, shorty likes to hang out in the Pacific Ocean!
On today’s morning and afternoon trip, we found short-beaked common dolphins and offshore bottlenose dolphins! For our morning trip, we went straight out west. We were about 13 miles offshore at our furthest point! In about ~2500 feet of water, we encountered an active pod of ~100 shortbeaked common dolphins! They were leaping out of the water and creating massive splashes! We also encountered a rare bird sighting of a Nazca booby! Then, on our way back towards Mission Bay we encountered an amazing pod of ~15 offshore bottlenose dolphins!
For our afternoon trip, we went north towards the La Jolla Canyon. About ~5 miles offshore located past the drop-off, we encountered a pod of ~200 short-beaked common dolphins! They were being very active on the water! As we were making our way back in, we encountered a pod of ~20 offshore bottlenose dolphins. These offshore bottlenose dolphins looked incredibly massive compared to the smaller shorties! So fun to see different species of toothed whales. We have one more ocean adventure coming up this evening so please stay tuned!
Our sunset trip consisted of dreamy, rainbow coloured clouds, active short-beaked common dolphins and energetic long-beaked common dolphins! At the beginning of our trip, we quickly encountered a lively pod of ~100 long-beaked common dolphins! They were riding along, swimming closely to our bow and surfing in our wake! Then, we travelled out west towards the 9-mile bank and encountered vast pod of ~300 short-beaked common dolphins! They were leaping out of the water. We were all astonished to see so many a flying dolphins! Never a dull moment out on the Pacific Ocean, can’t wait for you to join us soon!
