We had an enjoyable day on the water! The sea conditions were so calm and relaxing! We set out to the west and spotted a fun pod of ~100 Long-beaked Common dolphins cruising to the north. We observed them surfing in our wake and riding the bow. We got great looks at the calves that were swimming in mom’s slipstream. Mom would take her calf to the bow and to surf in the wake. We set out to the west toward the drop-off and kept going out toward deeper water. Down to the south of us, we spotted a small pod of ~20 Short-beaked Common dolphins. They kept going down for dives, so we assumed they were feeding down below. On our way in, we found another pod of ~100 Long-beaked Common dolphins headed south in about 150-ft of water. We enjoyed their playfulness as they raced toward the Privateer!
