It was a good day on the water! We encountered numerous Common dolphins throughout the day! It was hard to not find our dolphriends! We also found a single juvenile Humpback on our morning tour! We set out to the west and sighted a bunch of birds and dolphins feeding and nearby was the Humpy! It surfaced with a very distinctive 15-ft spout! It’s the same juvenile Humpback with the speckled back that’s been hanging out over the last month or so! The humpback was traveling to the south! We were lucky to see lots of flukes lifted as it went down for its sounding dive!
During the afternoon trip, we cruised up the coast, took in the sights. We had amazing visibility! Once we reached La Jolla we hooked it out to the SW. We encountered an awesome pod of ~300 Long-beaked Common dolphins. They were likely feeding! We observed hundreds of birds with them. Our favorite dolphins zoomed up to us and surfed alongside us! We sighted a handful of Common Dolphin calves in the pod. We got out to 7miles from MB and turned in, sighted more dolphins on our way home!
Our sunset tour was DREAMYYYY. Abundant wildlife and stunning conditions! We were lucky some whale watch friends gave us a lead on a small humpback whale right as soon as we hit the Pacific so we were able to cruise right on out there and hang out with the lil guy for a good amount of time time. This is the same little humpback that’s been hanging in our water. For months now. Following its usual MO – it was hanging out near a pod of long beaked common dolphins. We got to cruise around observing the dolphins as they zoomed up to hitch a ride. A beautiful palette of rainbow sherbet pastels painted the sky from east to west 😍
Hope to see you on our next trip!
