Spring time in San Diego means a wonderful variety of wildlife! Today started of with a small pod of long beaked common dolphins, as we were with them we sighted white water in the distance – NEARLY A THOUSAND common dolphins, a mega pod! They were racing to a feeding frenzy – when we got past all the commotion – we sighted multiple spouts! A total of 10 Grey whales migrating north – 4 we were able to cruise along side and observe up close!

There’s more to come! We’ve got a sunset trip about to head out!

We had an eventful sunset trip! We waved hello to a single inshore bottlenose dolphin on our way out of the Mission Bay jetties! We continued out to the SW and after hitting the drop-off we found ourselves engulfed in a huge fog bank! We had very little visibility with our densest fog giving only ~20 feet of visibility! We followed the contour to the north and played a little whale trivia to bypass the time and while having a whale vocalization sound off a huge pod of Long-beaked Common dolphins raced toward us! We must have been hitting the right notes because the dolphins came in and the fog began to clear! We enjoyed about ~200 Long-beaks that were traveling south. We began to peel off toward the 9-mile bank when we sighted more dolphins to the west and before we realized it, the fog was behind us and we had a glorious view of the horizon and the golden sun was shining so bright! We caught up with more Common dolphins everywhere we looked! Many cow/calf pairs and plenty of breachers to keep us giggling with excitement! On our way home, we traveled about 4-miles and were being approached by Common dolphins from every direction!

Come join us soon!
