What did the whale say to the ocean? – nothing! It just waved 🙂
Today, we had the best visibility all day! We could see for miles and miles, we even got to see San Clemente Island through the binoculars! Ocean conditions were also amazing all day! On the morning trip, we spotted a spout just outside of the jetties! It was so close to the coast less than ~2 miles offshore in about ~170 feet of water. I originally thought it was a Gray whale because its proximity to the coast but with a better look we noticed that it was a HUMPBACK whale! We hung out with the humpback whale for a few breath cycles and saw its tail flukes a few times. We wished it whale and continued on our journey. We found ~4 pods of both short-beaked common dolphins and long-beaked common dolphins. We saw about ~300 common dolphriends in total on the morning trip. For our afternoon trip, we had super glassy water, great visibility and Mr. Sun was smiling down on us the entire time! The water was so clear & blue! We travelled about ~10 miles offshore and found ~50 short-beaked common dolphins located in ~2000 feet of water! They were leaping out of the water and swimming alongside our boat. The pod was scattered but very fun to watch as they were being so playful!
We have another trip coming up so please stay tuned!
Art work, the sunset trip was nature – making artwork. We had a stunning sky the entire trip! We found a smaller humpback whale just south Point Loma, it was super boat curious and swam right towards our vessel a few times! This humpback gave us great looks as it swam near by shilouetted by a stunning sunset! (you’re gunna have to expand the photos to check out this epic sky)
