The ocean was teaming with life, starting with great looks at a harbour seal right after departing the dock. Heading southwest chasing some pelicans and shearwaters a small pod of ~30 long beaked common dolphins showed up in the mix. A larger pod of long beaks in a feeding frenzy brought us to a gorgeous humpback whale! We followed it for a few breath cycles watching it follow bird piles to different feeding areas. The fun wasn’t over while getting some superb looks at a fairly large mola mola! Captain John turned us back towards Mission Bay Channel and saw an enormous splash! Our friend the humpback whale started breaching continuously!! This happy humpback breached OVER 30 times!! It was incredible!! We didn’t get much of a sunset today but the stunning show we were treated to more than made up for it. Good times had by all including the wildlife.
Stay tuned for more excitement.
