WITH THE RIZZ! And by that I mean Risso’s dolphins! It’s been forever since we’ve seen these incredible dolphins but we got lucky with the COOLEST pod today! These Risso’s were pretty close to shore and RACING after something when we found them but very quickly started logging at the surface in a close dense gathering. These pale colored dolphin give off a ghostly turquoise glow when drifting below the surface – and when and SECIAL ALL WHITE ONE shows up, they’re definitely our favorite friendly little ocean ghosts. It seems there’s some squid out there to hunt down as we found another active pod of bottlenose near by! The bottlenose swam right up to us surfing at the bow. We sighted a minke as well, it was doing minke things, swimming in zig zags but we got some good looks at it as it foraged for food.
One more trip to go and conditions are forecasted to be EPIC for the next few days! Get yourself out here! It’s incredible!

WHAT A TRIP! We had gorgeous sea conditions and amazing visibility! To top that off, we caught up with an amazing pod of over 700 SHORT-BEAKED Common dolphins! We haven’t had a short-beaked Common dolphin pod that large in quite some time! It was amazing to see them socialize while BREACHING and porpoising all around the boat! We found them to the SW just a couple miles from the drop-off. We noticed splashes spread across the HORIZON over a 2-mile spread! They were mostly trending to the NE very slowly. We were lucky to witness some incredible displays of acrobatics from some of the SHOW_OFFS! A couple launched out of the water over 10-ft high, definitely over the horizon! We spotted a few cow/calf pairs zooming around our boat! We ventured to about 9.5-miles from Mission bay and almost touching the 9-mile bank. We hooked it to the north a couple miles and on our turn in, we spotted a breaching Mola, and more Shorties!
The sunset was breathtaking! The sky was on fire!
We hope you’ll join us for a fun time on the Pacific soon!
