We spent Super Bowl Sunday in the biggest soup bowl on earth – the ocean!
We saw tons of feeding frenzies all day long! Thousands of birds diving into the ocean to grab the baitfish dolphins were driving to the surface!
Our lil grey whale from earlier in the season is back! We call it Junior and it’s identifiable from two very distinct patches of barnacles on its rostrum.
We hung out with Junior on both trips and watched as they strained loooong stalks of kelp through their baleen. On occasion Junior would take a deep dive to the sea flore to scoop up the sediment and we could all see the muck filtering out from the mouth at the surface.

Conditions have settled after the storms and the ocean is looking more and more serene by the hour. We’re left with a stunning view of the San Gorgonio mountain range dusted with fresh snow.
