THREE DAYS IN A ROW WITH BALEEN! The tides are a changin! We’re so happy to have some of our great whales back in nearby waters.
We saw a massive feeding frenzy just off the drop off with hundreds of dolphins, sea lions and shearwaters all hunting baitfish on this mornings trip. We were able to spend so much time with all of the animals. That trip was followed by our afternoon trip where we sighted a Bryde’s whale and we even heard whispers of more whales to the north! Hopefully we’ll be able to head out and find them on our Sunset cruse tonight – Stay tuned to find out!
BREEEEEEACH!!!! X2!!
We found the wildlife alright! It took us a little while, but out to the SW we spotted some major bird activity and splashes on the horizon! We followed it and were in for an amazing treat! We could see massive bait balls of thousands of anchovies bubbling up to the surface. There were birds diving to feed all around us. We noticed some bigger splashes out in the distance that belonged to hundreds of Long-beaked Common dolphins! They were slowly traveling to the north when we spotted a 15-ft spout! We caught up with a Humpback whale as it followed the dolphins around. Then to our surprise, out of nowhere, to the south of us, near our other whale watch friends’ boat the humpback breached! We were lucky to see a beautiful rainblow (rainbow in the spout of the whale) and its tail flukes lifted on it way down for a dive. We were crossing our fingers and hoping for another breach and amazingly we got our wish! It breached one more time for us! The whole boat screamed with excitement! The sunset was the cherry on the top!
Everything seems to perking up around here! Now, is the time to join us!
