Super Cetacean Sunday!! We had a Happy Humpback whale on the sunset trip that BREACHED at least 25 TIMES including other incredible surface active behaviors! We also had a Minke whale on the afternoon trip as well as Common dolphins ALL DAY!
We had an awesome couple of trips on this beautiful Sunny Sunday! We cruised out toward deeper water and once we got to the drop-off, we heard from our whale watch friends on the Hana Hou with Gone Whale Watching! They spotted a single spout! We caught up with them and spotted a Minke whale! It was a bit sporadic at first but it began cruising to the west. We got great looks as it surfaced for one breath followed by a 3-5min dive. Some guests were happy we didn’t get to experience why they get the nickname Stinky Minke! Lol We waved goodbye to our new whale friend and spotted some Long-beaked common dolphins to west of us. They were moving fast to the north. As soon as we caught up with them they raced over to ride the bow and play in the wake! We got great looks at the babies and took a couple dolphin selfies! We continued on as they went north and found another pod that was feeding. Our ride home was nice and smooth and so refreshing out in the breeze!
We hung out a with a SPUNKY Humpback whale that breached, Chin Slapped, Pec-slapped and came close to the boat!! We had a couple passengers spot a spout out in front of us and before we knew it, we spent the next hour enjoying incredible aerial views as it played all around the boat! It was a juvenile Humpback that would go for a dive then launch out of the water will full 360degree breaches! We got so lucky to see it chin slap multiple times! It even did this ELEVATED chin slap where it would rocket out of the water like it was going to breach but then slammed down with a big fat belly flop! We observed it pec-slapping! It lifted one pectoral flipper and go from one side to the other like it was waving at us! After it began to slow down and travel to the north, we waved goodbye! We caught up with ~50 Long-beaked Common dolphins playing in the waves as the sun went down!
We are feeling like we are on cloud 9! We hope you’ll join us for a memorable trip soon!

Vanessa
