Red, white, and BLUE whales!

Happy Fourth of July, everyone! We were glad to avoid the crowds of people on the beaches in favor of crowds of dolphins out at sea! Both the morning and afternoon trips got to see lots of dolphin activity, with about 1,200 common dolphins in the morning and at least 200 more in the afternoon.

We also checked the baleen whale box with one long-winded blue in the morning and two more blues in the afternoon.

One of the neatest sightings of the day came on the way home from the morning trip, when a keen-eyed passenger noticed an unusual fin behind us. Further investigation revealed that it was an 8-9 foot thresher shark! We weren’t able to capture any pictures, but this was a rare find indeed!

If you’re joining us tomorrow, expect more holiday weekend traffic. Parking may be limited. Be sure to arrive early to get a spot or use alternative forms of transportation.

See you tomorrow,
