If you were on either of today’s cruises on the Privateer, you were extremely fortunate. The morning cruise featured a humpback whale which breached over 22 times, as well as slapped it’s pectoral flippers and tail flukes. You also got a good whiff of “whale breath.” We also observed two northbound gray whales on this cruise and small numbers of common, Pacific white-sided and bottlenose dolphins.
The afternoon cruise was terrific as well….everyone watched one humpback whale breach several times, pec slap and tail slap, as well as another humpback breaching in the distance. This was in addition to a fin whale near the humpbacks and a gray whale who found us on the way back to the Mission Bay. Fantastic day on the water. Captain Adam did a great job of finding very active whales today–thrilling for everyone to watch!!
