We had two amazing trips today! Gray whale season is in full swing! Lots of southbounders out right now. During our morning trip, we set out to the SW and sighted lots of diving birds, feeding on bait balls! Out to the north, we sighted two spouts in opposite directions, at the same time! We caught up with one that was a 6-minute whale! It came up for 2 to 3 breaths and dove, showing its tail on each dive! We cruised on encountered a Humpback whale! It was seen traveling to the SW. We got awesome looks as it spouted, arched its back and showed its flukes! During our afternoon tour, we went straight out and sighted a trio of southbound Gray whales. They were slowly traveling, only 3-miles from shore. Two whales synched up and spouted at the same time. We noticed some other spouts to the north, and our crew member Oscar sighted a breach! We zoomed over, they calmed down, but still got to enjoy watching a fun little pod! We continued out to the west, and found the same Humpback we sighted in the morning! It was swimming with a pod of ~50 Long-beaked Common dolphins! They found a bait ball, and the Humpback lunge-fed at the surface, twice!
This is the perfect time to join us! Hope to see you on the next one!
