I don’t know what we did to deserve all of these whales but the blue whales have been INCREDIBLE!
There are more blues close to shore this year than there have been in as long as we can remember! Just 7 miles from shore, there awaits a phenomenal, massive gathering of the largest creatures on earth. We headed out of the jetties today and immediately found ~200 long beaked common dolphins in a feeding frenzy with tons of brown pelicans and terns. They joined us on our journey out west for a while, playing in our wake and bow riding. The spent a whole hour hanging out with 10+ Blue whales, and we were lucky enough to see them fluke multiple times! We ran into the dolphins again on the way back, our little aquatic escorts.
I cant stress enough how magical it’s been off of our coastline! This normally isn’t an every day thing, so we’re grateful every single day that this life keeps hanging around in abundance!
