We are FINALLY back on the water! The seas were to tumultuous to safely enjoy the whales this week! But we are excited to be back enjoying the wildlife! We cruised out of the Mission Bay jetties and had fun on mother nature’s roller coaster! It was a bit rocky out there, but managed to get out to 8-miles offshore! Beyond the drop-off, we spotted 2-3 Fin whales circling the area! We got really good looks at one of them that was up for 4-5 breaths and down for only 5-7 minutes. On one of its last breath cycles it crossed our bow only 20-ft from the boat! We watched its fluke prints continue to the north of us. It popped up again a little further and then went down for a deep sounding dive! While waiting for it to surface again, we spotted another spout west of us about a mile away and then spotted another spout to the south us about 2-miles! Also, after reaching the drop-off we started seeing tons of Velella velella’s (By-the-wind-sailors)! A Mola mola sighting is what led us to notice them! They were dime to quarter sized Velella’s. Our sunset on the way home was gorgeous! We even got a glimpse at a green flash!

We will be out tomorrow so come out for some fun!
