SUNDAY FINDAY! We found a massive fin whale today hanging out around the drop-off! We hung out with this fin whale for multiple breath cycles. It came up right next to our boat for its final dive. We also found a pod of ~60 long-beaked common dolphins. We had an amazing afternoon trip! We set out for the same zone and a Fin whale found us! We were cruising along, when a Fin whale popped up beside us only about 50-ft from our starboard side! We even got to see whale POOP! It was a bright reddish brown, indicating that it was feeding on krill! We observed it circling in the same spot and going down for 8-min dives. We left it behind and found a spread out pod of ~100 Long-beaked Common dolphins! They raced up to our bow and our wake to surf. We had a beautiful sunset trip with 5-7 Inshore bottlenose dolphins hanging out at the end of the Mission Bay jetties. We set out to the west into the sun and searched and covered close to 20-miles of water, but surprisingly we didn’t find much wildlife out there. The sunset stole the show tonight!
