I was pleasantly surprised to return from my days off to find beautiful blue skies to accompany our blue whales! Lots of baby dolphins too, as is customary for this time of year.
In the morning we found two blue whales, one of which showed its massive tail with each deep dive, and about 1,500 common dolphins. In the afternoon we found about 200 more common dolphins and the same “fluking” blue whale that we saw this morning. This whale had a unique dorsal fin with a notch that resembled a bottle opener, so it was easy to recognize! We saw other spouts in the distance but opted to spend quality time with this one particularly cooperative whale.
